The Green Blue and CYCA

The Green Blue was delighted to be invited to speak to the CYCA this month about how member clubs can help to protect Scotland’s coasts and waterways.

For environmental advice and information visit The Green Blue website http://thegreenblue.org.uk

To summarise where clubs can find the relevant environmental information and publications:

Pass it on!

The Green Blue asks that clubs help to disseminate The Green Blue How to Guide, packed full of environmental tips and advice to their members.  Ideal to include in your yearbook mailing.  There is also a range of free posters to display on club noticeboards, an ‘Into the Green Blue’ CD Rom and stickers available too. Quick view.

To request copies: Email Scotland@thegreenblue.org.uk

Take Environmental Measures at your Club

Improving environmental performance at your club can help reduce costs and improve facilities.  Take a look at:

Marine Toolkit - The Green Blue has designed an online toolkit to help marinas and boat facilities to assess their environmental performance and compliance with legislation.  By filling out the online questionnaire, you can establish your environmental performance and find out what measures you need to take to improve it.  The response is tailored to the answers you give to the questions under each topic.

Visit  http://www.marinetoolkit.co.uk/ , follow the directions for use and find out what you can do today

RYA Planning and Environment Handbook - designed to help RYA affiliated clubs and training centres in running their facilities, especially when embarking on a building development project.  Provides guidance in dealing with planning issues, environmental permissions and consents.

Section 1:  Facilities Development – Sets out what permissions and consents you are likely to require and gives advice on preparing and applying for consents.

Section 2:  Facility Operation in terms of Environmental Management.  Identifies legal duties and suggestions on achieving legal compliance and good practice.  This includes guidance such as reducing electricity and water use, providing correct waste facilities and oils/fuel storage, greening events etc.
